500 Year Old Wedding Venue
For those of you that are in Sussex may have stumbled across a beautiful country house in Sharpthorne - The Ravenswood. Set in the rolling countryside of West Sussex, The Ravenswood offers 20 acres of landscaped lawns, gardens and lakes. These beautiful surroundings create an unforgettable atmosphere for bridal parties and their guests, as well as providing a stunning setting for corporate events, meetings and seminars. It has always held a special place in our hearts as we used to manage our own venue styling business from 2008 and worked with the team at The Ravenswood and couples celebrating their big day for nearly 7 years. When we heard that the venue had closed and not taking on new bookings as it was likely the 500 year old country house was going to be developed in to apartments, we were so saddened as were all of the local communities.
However some fabulous news has recently been confirmed that the venue has been saved and so pleased that one of our friends in the industry, Samantha Wordie and her business partner Stuart have purchased The Ravenswood. We couldn't be more happy for the team and wish them all the success for the future.
The Ravenswood is a unique property, set in 20 acres of lawns, gardens and lakes, with four function rooms and 34 bedrooms, six of which have four-poster beds. The original part of the house was built in 1426 and has seen many interesting owners and occupiers over the years, most notably Princess Beatrice, youngest daughter of Queen Victoria, as well as Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands. The venue will also be hosting a wedding fayre together with Empirical Events, the wedding show company, on Sunday, May 21 from 11am until 3pm so do pop along to see this fabulous hidden gem.
Simply the views of the grounds surrounding the lake will blow you away with ample photo opportunities including a great terraced area for you and your guests to enjoy your welcome drinks and canapes. If you'd like to hear more about this venue then please do get in touch.
