Our Guide to Choosing a Photographer

Choosing a wedding photographer is such a personal thing. Although we have a long list of amazing photographers we have worked with over the last decade, it really is down to you guys to make that decision. It is really a minefield out there but here are a few tips to help you on your way.

So, what's your style? Make sure when you fall in love with your photographers portfolio you are comparing like with like. Don’t book a photographer on a strength of dreamy English country garden images when you are planning a city chic spectacular.

How much to spend? It’s hard isn’t it? Do you spend the money on the stuff that makes your day look good and you feel good, but risk the images of the day not being a great reflection on your memories, or just frankly not any good? Or do you spend a large proportion on a fab photographer but consequently have to scrimp on what you can afford to make the day. This is never going to mean there’s less to photograph… you are the main event! We think it goes without saying that finding a photographer you gel with is equally important. There’s no way that choosing a photographer who you think is amazing but don’t get on like a house on fire with is going to work. If that photographer can’t make you laugh and smile, really get the best out of you, then we believe this is key to having the best images! We have recently worked with Sara Reeve and she did just that and is so much fun and loves natural settings.Have a look at different styles of photography, we particularly like how Jacob Malinski works with light and has produced some amazing images for many of our weddings. We have also worked with Hayley Rose who really knows how to capture the moments.Above all, the style of the images should say something about you both as a couple. Whether you are looking for relaxed and informal photography or you would like to go for a more adventurous and contemporary style, be sure to do your homework and look at as many different styles as possible.
